Plan your visa extension.

A practical checklist for travellers already in Bali who want to understand whether their Indonesia visa may be extended and which official process applies.

Information checked against official immigration sources on 22 October 2026. Visa rules may change; verify again before you apply.

Start with the visa you already hold

Find the category and expiry date on your e-Visa or stay permit. The extension rules for B1 are not automatically the same as the rules for C1, business visits or residence permits.

B1 e-VOA

The official B1 guidance allows one extension up to a total stay of 60 days. An electronic e-VOA extension may be submitted online through the official system; a non-electronic VOA can involve the local Immigration office. Follow the live guidance for your stay address.

C1 and sponsor-based permits

C1 is described as extendable up to the applicable total stay limit, and sponsor participation is part of its official process. Check with the sponsor and portal for the current documents, payment and appointment steps.

Keep a clear record

  • Save a copy of the current permit and expiry date.
  • Use the official Immigration portal or office instructions for your area.
  • Keep application receipts and appointment notices.
  • Do not wait until after expiry to ask whether an extension is possible.
