Bali visa if you live in Malaysia

Malaysian passport holders can use Indonesia’s visa-free visit facility for an eligible short trip. If you live in Malaysia on another passport, check that passport’s route instead.

The short answer

Your travel passport determines the Indonesian route; living in Malaysia does not change it.

Malaysian ordinary passport holders are eligible for a visa-free visit of up to 30 days. Other passports may qualify for different routes, so check the passport you will present before booking or applying.

Which visa does your passport need?

This guide shows MYR starting references and selected passport examples. The route follows the passport used to travel, not place of birth or residence. Prices are fixed in MYR on this page and do not change with the header currency selector; the written quote confirms the current route and exact total.

Passport examples are illustrative route comparisons, not a ranking of foreign passport holders in this country. Malaysia’s 2025 migration statistics estimate 3.38 million non-citizens, but the published headline does not provide a comparable nationality breakdown. We use Malaysian passport holders as the main example and do not rank other passports from the total. Actual eligibility follows the passport you will travel on. Check the published passport lists.

Starting references are approximate conversions from the published VBS tiers: 1 USD = 4.077375 MYR (checked 29 October 2026). The B1/C1 reference includes the listed visa fee and assistance tier; third-party payment charges, extensions and Bali’s tourist levy may be separate. We confirm the current scope, currency and payable total in writing before you pay.

Does living in Malaysia change your Bali visa?

A visa, work permit or residence card issued by Malaysia does not give you the Indonesian visa access of a Malaysian passport holder. Indonesia checks the passport you present for the application and at entry.

If you hold more than one passport, tell us which one you will use. Keep that passport consistent for the application, airline check-in and entry to Indonesia.

Returning to Malaysia

Malaysian citizens should travel with a valid Malaysian passport. Non-citizen residents should confirm that their travel document and Malaysian pass remain valid for the planned departure and return; conditions vary by status.

Before you travel from Malaysia to Bali

Malaysia’s visa-free visit for eligible Malaysian passports is up to 30 days and is not extendable. If your trip needs a longer or different route, check the official Indonesian portal before travel; the route and any service fee depend on the passport and case.

Check Indonesia’s official e-Visa portal for current passport validity, onward-ticket and document requirements. Immigration makes the final entry decision.

Bali visa prices from Malaysia

Published starting references are RM163 for B1 and RM408 for C1 in MYR. Visa-free passports do not pay an Indonesian visa fee for the eligible short visit. Your final total depends on the route, current government charge and supporting work; we send it in writing before payment.

The local-currency figures are fixed to this residence guide, not the header display setting. Exchange rates and official fees can change, so treat them as starting estimates.

Bali visa questions from Malaysia residents

Passport eligibility, local return documents, MYR starting references and our review process.

Can Malaysian passport holders visit Bali without a visa?

Malaysian ordinary passports are on Indonesia’s current visa-free visit list for eligible visits up to 30 days. This facility is not extendable; confirm current conditions before travelling.

Does living in Malaysia make other passports visa-free?

No. Visa-free eligibility follows the passport, not the country where you live. Residents travelling on another passport should check that nationality’s route.

Can I extend the visa-free visit?

No. The visa-free visit facility is not extendable. If you need a longer stay, ask about the correct visa route before travel.

How much does a Bali visa cost in ringgit?

Eligible Malaysian passport holders do not pay an Indonesian visa fee for the visa-free visit. Other routes may have government and service charges; we confirm any applicable total in writing first.

What if I live in Malaysia on a work or residence pass?

Your Malaysian pass does not replace your travel passport. Check both the Indonesian route for your passport and the Malaysian requirements for returning after your trip.

Do I pay when I send an assistance request?

No. The team reviews your passport route and documents first. If we can proceed, we send a written quote and secure payment link.
