The shortlist is based on Australia’s ten largest overseas-born communities in the ABS June 2025 release, plus Australian passports and Pakistan, which was among the largest-growing communities over the decade. Birthplace is only a demand proxy, not nationality; Indonesia checks the passport used for travel. Find another passport.
Indonesian Immigration and the airline check the passport you use for travel. A residence card issued by Australia does not give you the visa rights of an Australian passport holder.
If you hold more than one passport, use the same passport for the visa application, airline check-in, entry and exit.
Australian permanent residents do not have an automatic right to return after overseas travel. Check in VEVO that the travel facility linked to your current passport remains valid for your return date. Temporary visa holders should check their own visa conditions before departure.
Australian Home Affairs guidance ↗For B1, e-VOA and airport VOA are the online and arrival options for the same 30-day route; eligible travellers can extend once. Indonesia requires an ordinary passport valid for at least six months and a return or onward ticket. Australian travel advice recommends applying for e-VOA at least 48 hours before travel.
All international arrivals must submit the All Indonesia Arrival Card within 72 hours of travel. Most foreign tourists also pay Bali’s separate IDR 150,000 tourist levy; check official exemptions and current instructions before departure.
