Bali visa if you live in the United States

Living in the United States is not the same as holding a US passport. Indonesian entry rules follow the passport you use for the trip, not your US visa, green card or place of birth.

The short answer

Your travel passport determines the Indonesian route; living in United States does not change it.

United States ordinary passport holders are eligible for B1 e-VOA. Other passports may qualify for different routes, so check the passport you will present before booking or applying.

Which visa does your passport need?

This guide shows USD starting references and selected passport examples. The route follows the passport used to travel, not place of birth or residence. Prices are fixed in USD on this page and do not change with the header currency selector; the written quote confirms the current route and exact total.

Passport examples are illustrative route comparisons, not a ranking of foreign passport holders in this country. The US Census Bureau’s 2024 American Community Survey table reports place of birth, not current citizenship or travel passports. This page therefore uses the US passport as its main example and does not turn birthplace statistics into a ranked list of passport communities. Actual eligibility follows the passport you will travel on. Check the published passport lists.

Starting references are approximate conversions from the published VBS tiers: USD is the base currency; no conversion applied. (checked 29 October 2026). The B1/C1 reference includes the listed visa fee and assistance tier; third-party payment charges, extensions and Bali’s tourist levy may be separate. We confirm the current scope, currency and payable total in writing before you pay.

Does living in the United States change your Bali visa?

A visa, work permit or residence card issued by United States does not give you the Indonesian visa access of a United States passport holder. Indonesia checks the passport you present for the application and at entry.

If you hold more than one passport, tell us which one you will use. Keep that passport consistent for the application, airline check-in and entry to Indonesia.

Returning to the United States

US citizens with dual nationality must enter and leave the United States on a US passport. Permanent residents should check official CBP guidance for the documents and travel-duration rules that apply to their situation before departing.

Before you travel from the United States to Bali

If you are a US permanent resident or hold another nationality, check your return-to-US documents separately from the Indonesian visa route. For a multi-country itinerary, also check each transit country’s rules.

Check Indonesia’s official e-Visa portal for current passport validity, onward-ticket and document requirements. Immigration makes the final entry decision.

Bali visa prices from the United States

Published starting references are $40 for B1 and $100 for C1 in USD. Visa-free passports do not pay an Indonesian visa fee for the eligible short visit. Your final total depends on the route, current government charge and supporting work; we send it in writing before payment.

The local-currency figures are fixed to this residence guide, not the header display setting. Exchange rates and official fees can change, so treat them as starting estimates.

Bali visa questions from the United States residents

Passport eligibility, local return documents, USD starting references and our review process.

Why is there no ranked passport-community list for the US?

US Census birthplace data do not show current nationality or which passport a resident holds. We avoid presenting birthplace counts as passport counts.

Do US passport holders need a visa for Bali?

US ordinary passports are included on Indonesia’s published B1 Visa on Arrival list. B1 allows up to 30 days initially and may be extended once, subject to current rules.

Does a US green card change my Indonesia visa?

No. Indonesia checks the passport you travel on. A green card may matter for your return to the United States, so check CBP guidance separately.

Which passport should a dual US citizen use?

The US Department of State says US citizens must use a US passport to enter and leave the United States. For Indonesia, use one consistent passport for the visa application, airline check-in and entry.

How much does Bali visa assistance cost in US dollars?

The published starting references are US$40 for B1 and US$100 for C1. Government or payment-provider charges can change; the exact route and total are confirmed in writing before payment.

Do I pay when I submit a request?

No. The team reviews your case first. If we can proceed, we email a written quote and a secure payment link.
